Hello from the Talensi-Nabdam district of northern Ghana! This post will be short and sweet. We are all well and are enjoying a much needed rest after a day of visiting local officials and the school where we will be focusing our efforts. It was humbling for our kids to see the absolute poverty that this area lives under. Small children with no shoes or pencils sitting on the floors of classrooms, learning with smiles on their faces, greeted us as we came to inspect the rooms we are here to clean and furnish. I don’t think we’ll be hearing any more petty complaints about toilets, food or fans! We will be starting in earnest on the classrooms and lab preparations tomorrow.
Life here is very difficult for most people. I am constantly reminded how easy we have it in the USA. I am also incredibly grateful to all the people who donated to our project and can assure you that your donations are not unappreciated! I am writing this from my phone, which happens to be compatible with the data plans in this country. So amazing to be able to send email from the bush! More soon… Much love, Kirstin
Tamara,
I am proud of you and everyone taking this fabulous adventure. Because of your adventurous spirit, you will have the chance to see many beautiful sights and help others in the process–not many will ever experience what you are about to accomplish.
I hope everyone had a chance to celebrate the Fourth of July in some small way. G’ma, Ginny and I barbequed and had a toast to everyone in Ghana!
I miss you! Stay safe!
Tamara,
dido from me love and miss you
